Mortal Shell II Weapons: All Weapon Types and Upgrades

Mortal Shell II weapons guide: every weapon type, how upgrades work, universal equip rules and the new weapon variety.

Mortal Shell II Weapons

Weapons come in several types, each with unique attacks and playstyles. The original Mortal Shell was praised for feel but criticized for a small weapon pool — the sequel explicitly expands weapon types and upgrade depth.

Universal equip rule

Weapons found in the world are usable by all Shells and the Harbinger. Your favorite weapon stays viable when you switch classes.

Weapon types (confirmed so far)

The announcement trailer confirmed new weapon types beyond the original’s roster. Expect:

  • Returning archetypes: swords, hammers, axes with the series’ weighty swing animation
  • New archetypes: additional reach, speed and special-move classes shown in the trailer
  • A full typed list (stat block per weapon) will be published on this page after launch

Extensive weapon upgrades

The official description highlights extensive weapon upgrades as a core pillar. Upgrading goes beyond simple damage numbers — expect unique paths per weapon. Full upgrade tables go live on Items & Upgrades after launch.

Damage types

Boss and enemy weaknesses (frost, fire, etc.) matter in the sequel — for example, the boss Droeg the Conquerer deals massive Frost damage, hinting that ice-themed weapons and resistances are part of the ecosystem. See Bosses.

Weapon upgrade checklist

  • Collect Tarstones as you explore (see Seals & Tarstones)
  • Check upgrade costs before committing to a single weapon
  • Test new weapon types early — some fit certain Shells much better
  • Keep an eye on the “weapon abilities” system unique to each class of weapon
